STRATEGIC GOALS (2004-2008)
Due to the historic success of the Consortium, the members moved to increase their resource commitment and engaged in a strategic planning process to address the expansion of the mission and goals. The planning produced the following strategic goals approved by the Board:
• Identify and research specific methods to share and develop resources
• Develop faculty, classified, and management leadership
• Develop strategies to increase the pool of applicants for teaching and
administrative positions, especially applicants from underrepresented
populations, including the encouragement of our own first and second year
students to pursue a career in community college teaching.
• Address mathematics and English precollegiate student skills issues.
• Emphasize the priority of collaborative academic planning and common
calendaring.
• Continue to encourage faculty to meet and discuss discipline specific issues
and educational pedagogy.
• Pursue grants and alternative funding sources of common interest to HECCC
institutions.
• Conduct joint research projects that are advantageous to member institutions
and explore collaborative methods to attain goals.
• Explore on-line certificate and degree program coordination among HECCC
institutions.
• Explore next phase funding for Digital Television plan.
Specific Task Force Committees, as appropriate, will be created to addresss the above-referenced goals while the Articulation, Transfer and Staff Development Committees will function as long-term standing committees that meet monthly.
ARTICULATION COMMITTEE 2006-2007 GOALS
• Conduct annual update of HECCC Grids: AA/AS, CAN, CSU GE, IGETC,
Associate Degree Nursing Prerequisite Grid, Pre-Licensure Stanislaus
Nursing, Radiologic Technology, and Liberal Studies Integrated Grid.
• Assist with facilitation of discipline-specific faculty-to-faculty articulation.
It will include: Child Development, Computer Science, & Biological Sciences
• Modify and implement research strategies to demonstrate utility of HECCC
Grids for students and professional staff.
Evaluate Baccalaureate Level Course-to-Course Grid Utilization
• Work jointly with Evaluator and Transfer sub-committees.
• Monitor statewide articulation issues.
EVALUATORS COMMITTEE
• Create documentation standards in the form of a training handbook for
HECCC evaluators
• Develop a communication network for HECCC evaluators
• Facilitate regional communication between articulation officers and
evaluators
PHYSICS FACULTY-TO-FACULTY COMMITTEE
STAFF DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
• Continue to plan and conduct the annual Classified Staff Retreat.
• Expand leadership training/experience of committee members.
• Refine development of the Retreat web page to recruit participants.
