24. Thesis Topic: Propaganda and the American Revolution, Thesis Statement: During the American Revolution the English colonies were anything but completely united. Two hundred plus year after the event many assume that the goals and the virtues of the revolution were held universally throughout the struggle. The reality was that unity and purpose needed to be sold to the colonists to win their hearts and minds. National unity was achieved to some extent by the use of sword and musket but more so by the pen. The American Revolution succeeded primarily by the use of manifestos and stirring propaganda.
