4. Topic: The Native Americans. Thesis: For decades the Native American Indians had heard that if they adopted American lifestyles and values they could retain their freedom and some of their lands. However, when put to the test during the Jackson administration, these promises proved unfulfilled. The Indians were removed from their lands despite favorable Supreme Court decisions because the administration put a states rights position ahead of other rights and considerations.
