Concrete Blonde to perform at Delta College

STOCKTON, CA - The L.H. Horton Jr. Gallery on the campus of San Joaquin Delta College presents Concrete Blonde in acoustic concert at Tillie Lewis Theatre Thursday, November 8th at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available through Delta Center for the Arts Box Office. The Box Office can be reached at 209-954-5110. Concrete Blonde is presented in conjunction with the Gallery's exhibit, Greatest Hits: a multi-media installation by Johnette Napolitano. The exhibit runs from November 8th through December 20th, 2001 with the Opening Reception on Thursday, November 8th from 5 to 8 pm; free and open to the public.

Johnette Napolitano is the prolific frontwoman/bassist for Concrete Blonde; the critically acclaimed band rising from the Southern Californian alternative music scene of the 80's. The band went on to release 8 albums from 1983 through 1997, including the 1990 radio hit single „Joey‰ and toured the world several times. Napolitano is often cited as one of rock-n-roll&Mac226;s most powerful voices, capable of a poetic gentle whisper and able to invoke a thunderous roar.

Many fans and critics felt the group hit their stride with 1993&Mac226;s release, Mexican Moon, only to see the band decide to cease touring and recording within the mainstream music industry. Hungry fans will be delighted to hear that earlier this year, original members Napolitano, James Mankey and Harry Rushakoff reunited to produce an upcoming album of new material. The appearance by Napolitano and Mankey on campus marks a special opportunity to experience these musicians in an intimate environment.

The L.H. Horton Jr. Gallery is located in Shima Center on the campus of San Joaquin Delta College. The Gallery is currently open Tuesdays from 11 am to 4 pm, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with special extended hours on Saturday, November 10th from 11 am to 3 pm. Admission is free. For more information call 209-954-5507 or visit finearts.deltacollege.edu.
