REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSOCIATE OF ARTS IN FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES WITH A CONCENTRATION IN INTERIOR DESIGN:

GENERAL EDUCATION :

Complete one of the following general education patterns:

A. California State University General Education (CSU-GE) pattern.


B. Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC), CSU or UC version, for transfer to CSU, UC, and many independent colleges and Universities. (Students using IGETC, UC version to satisfy General Education must also take COM ST 001A to satisfy the Associate Degree Oral Communication Requirement).

C. San Joaquin Delta College Associate Degree General Education Pattern.*

Associate in Arts Degree

Students planning to receive an Associate in Arts with their major area of concentration in Interior Design should refer to the latest San Joaquin Delta College Catalog for specific requirements. One requirement for an Associate in Arts Degree is the completion of 18 units in a major discipline. It is recommended that students select the 18 units from the core courses listed for the Interior Design Certificate.

 
Transfer

Specific requirements for a Bachelor's Degree will vary depending on the four year college to which you plan to transfer. It is highly recommended that you refer to the University Transfer Requirements list in the San Joaquin Delta College Catalog, and the specific requirements of the college where you plan to receive your Bachelor's Degree. To review specific transfer and course requirements schedule an appointment with a San Joaquin Delta College guidance counselor in Danner 205 (954-5650).

Applying for a Certificate

Certificate applications may be obtained from the Evaluations Office located in Holt Center, Room 101. Refer to the the current semester's Schedule of Classes for deadline for submission of applications or contact the evaluations office at (209) 954-5010. Official transcripts must be provided for any class(es) taken at a college other than Delta. No transcript is required for Delta College courses unless they were taken prior to 1983. Students should request that the transcripts be sent directly to the Family, Consumer and Health Sciences Division Office. Certificates are awarded once a year at the Annual Spring Dinner.

Articulation Agreements

The articulation process helps students advance from one educational level to the next without repetition of a course content. Students involved in articulation agreements are often able to complete certificates and degrees in less time, resulting in a savings of time and money.

The Family, Consumer and Health Sciences Division has articulation agreements with many local high schools, regional occupational programs and four year colleges and universities. High school students can earn college credit upon entering San Joaquin Delta College if they have completed specific high school courses with above average grades. Courses articulated with colleges and universities vary greatly depending on the type of programs offered. To find out which schools have courses articulated with the Family, Consumer and Health Sciences Division call the Division Office (954-5516) or check with your counselor.
