2. Diploma and Transcripts
- Submit diploma or leaving certificate and official (original) transcripts from secondary schooling and from any colleges or universities you have attended.
- If the original language is not English, a certified English translation must accompany all documents.
3. Proof of English Proficiency/Skill Level
- Proof of English language proficiency/skill level is required of all students. You may submit score reports from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or you may choose to take the college’s English as a Second Language (ESL) test on your arrival to the college. Please indicate your choice on page 4 of the application.

- ESL Test: You may be admitted on the condition that you complete the college’s ESL test followed by enrollment in the appropriate language course level.
- This requirement is waived if you are from a country that uses English as the primary language in its education system or if you have completed appropriate language courses at a U.S. college or university.
4. Proof of Financial Support
- Submit proof of financial support issued within the last six (6) months, showing that you meet the minimum estimated expenses required for F-1 students. All documentation (bank statements, etc.) must be in English. The proof of financial support must be one of the following documents:
5. Immunization Record
- Submit proof of immunization for Tetanus, Measles, and Rubella, and the results of your most recent Tuberculin skin test.
6. Essay
- Submit a one-page essay that describes your reason for applying to SJDC, including your educational background and goals.
7. Application Fee
- Submit the $50 application fee.
- Payment is not refundable and must be an international money order, cashier’s check, or personal check payable to SJDC, or cash.
- Payment by credit card can be arranged. Please contact the International Student Program for requirements.
8. Transfer Students
- If you are an F-1 student currently attending another college, university, or language school in the U.S., the following documents are also required:
- Copy of your current I-20.
- Copy of the visa and identification pages from your passport, and your I-94.
- Official transcripts from your current school.
- Proof of medical insurance coverage, including policy expiration date, if applicable.
9. Submitting Your Completed Application
- Make a copy of the completed application and all supporting documents (transcripts, financial statement, etc.) for your records. All documents become the property of SJDC and will not be copied or returned.
- Submit completed application and required documents to:

- Allow 10 business days for processing after all required documents are received. Your acceptance packet, including the I-20, will be mailed to the address you specified on your application.
