Ornamental HorticultureThe Ornamental Horticulture curriculum provides training for employment in nurseries, greenhouses, residential and commercial landscape maintenance, landscape design, contracting, and golf course maintenance. Many students choose to continue their education at the four year college level and then enter such fields as teaching, research, landscape architecture and related fields. Laboratory experience is an integral part of this program. The Landscape program is designed to prepare students for job entry positions in the landscape industry. Typical positions include State Highway Department landscape crew, city, county, and state park maintenance, golf courses, private landscape contracting, retail nursery work and private landscape maintenance. The Nursery Technician program is designed to prepare students for employment in wholesale and retail nurseries and garden centers. Positions are found in nursery sales and service, plant propagation, potted plant production, floral shops, cut flower production and related areas. Included in the instruction is information required for passing the California Certified Nursery examination. This Ornamental Horticulture Turf Grass curriculum provides training for employment in golf course maintenance. Many Students choose to continue their education at the four year college level and then enter such fields as teaching, research, landscape architecture and related fields. Laboratory experience is an integral part of this program. This Ornamental Horticulture Floral Design curriculum provides training for employment in floral shops or floral wholesalers. Many Students choose to continue their education at the four year college level and then enter such fields as teaching, research and related fields.
