A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST
Thanh Thien Tran "BlueSky"

I am Thanh Thien Tran. I was born on August 29, 1966, in Saigon, Vietnam. Vietnam happens to be the most memorable and beautiful place in my mind.Vietnam is a tropical country, which is located at southern west of Asia. I have a big family, which includes my parents, six sisters and brother. They have been living in Vietnam. I have a lovely wife who has always supported me to fulfill my dreams. We are living in Stockton, CA

I finished my high school and college of music in my country. I was a music teacher. I taught children how to play piano and guitar. Besides, I really love art. I often draw when I have the chance. I have been in America since October 29, 1997. I love this country because of its freedom, education, and humanity.

Being an independent artist is my dream. In my opinion, everything is invisible could be visible if one wants to do it. It is so lucky for me when I have attended in graphic art program of Delta College, where I can have any needs for my study. In addition, my instructor Mrs. Sanchez Marshall, who has broad knowledge about digital imagine technology, has carefully guided and taught me how to get into this field of art.

PhotoShop is the most useful and interesting program that I have used for my works. It has many functions that I have not learned yet. My art works, which are presented here, were done in PhotoShop. Someone has asked me how I work with my pieces of art. Honestly, I do not have an appropriate reply. Imaginations just come out of my mind at the time I start to draw. I have no plan for them. Perspectively, art looks like "thunder love" and I always feel that I fall in love whenever I start to draw. When a person falls in love, his or her imagination is flying, so am I. Fortunately, I am influenced between two different cultures. One is a tropical country with many rice fields and small roads. One is a developed country with high technology and many skyscrapers. As a result, I use a high technology to describe my spirit and it works.

I really do not want to mention too much about my art works, because I know that I still have many mile-stones away and I have to learn until the end of my life. As someone said, " My best one is the next one." Art is unlimited.

Finally, It is my pleasure to be a guest artist for Delta College Student Gallery. I want to thank Mrs. Sanchez Marshall, Mrs. Nanci Memory and Delta College faculties for giving me an opportunity to present my work on the Website. I truly appreciate anyone who spends time coming to Delta College Student Gallery and welcome any critical and artistic advice.

God bless you all,
Thanh Thien Tran
