Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE)
The CARE Program (Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education) is an affiliate program of EOPS designed to support the special needs of a single parent recipient of AFDC, TANF, or CalWORKS, 18 years of age or older, head of household, with one or more children, 13 years of age or younger.
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Be eligible for EOPS.
  2. Be 18 years of age or older.
  3. Be a single parent/head of household.
  4. Custodial parent of one or more children, 13 years old or younger.
  5. At least one dependent child is a current recipient of AFDC/TANF/ CalWorks cash aid.
  6. Be enrolled in 12 more units each semester (Waiver available).
  7. Enrolled in an educational program of study leading to a vocational/technical training certificate, associate degree, or university transfer program.
  8. Enroll in the required CARE Guidance course scheduled for the current semester.  (If you are enrolled in the CARE Guidance course you are exempt from the EOPS Student Success Workshop requirement only for the semester you are enrolled in the CARE Guidance class).

In addition to EOPS programs and services, CARE students also may qualify to receive:

  • Financial grants
  • Free parking permits or bus passes
  • Campus and community resource referrals
  • Emergency car repair money (limited availability)
  • Academic and personal counseling
  • Instructional support classes
  • Networking activities
