What are student learning outcomes?
DSPS's Student Learning Outcomes describe what we want our students to know and/or be able to do as consequences of the services that we provide. Why are these learning outcomes important? These Student Learning Outcomes provide a method of evaluating whether DSPS is successfully meeting its mission of providing equal access to educational opportunities for students with disabilities. We are committed in continually measuring our success through the use of Student Learning Outcomes. The student support services are systematically assessed using the DSPS Student Learning Outcomes, faculty and staff input, and other appropriate measures in order to improve the effectiveness of these services. |
Student Learning Outcomes for DSPS 1. The student will be able to identify eductional barriers and functional/educational limitations that result from his/her disability and possible accommodations and services they may need for equal access. 2. The student will demonstrate self-advocacy skills and the ability to communicate his/her need for authorized academic accommodations to faculty and staff. 3. The student will demonstrate an understanding of and make responsible use of DSPS services. 4. The student, with the use of assistive/adaptive technology, will be able to access, understand, and use information in order to complete their academic and personal goals at Delta College. 5. The student, as a result of participating in the Learning Disability Program, will plan and evaluate his/her progress toward educational and vocational goals. |
