There is still time for you to advocate against some or most of the cutbacks in funding for student services at the community colleges.

 The Governor has proposed a 58.8% reduction in 2009-10 in the following programs:

Already, most of Delta's DSPS staff have received layoff notices that will go into effect after a board meeting on Tuesday, June 16th. You should get there by 5:45 PM.

You can be there to voice your concerns and needs to the board.

Other expected areas of cutbacks are:

• EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services)
• CARE (Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education)
• DSPS (Disability Support Programs & Services)
• A reduction in child care funds for the Child Development Center

You can:

• Print out a petition, have it signed by family and friends, and bring it to the DSPS office. We will deliver it to the appropriate legislator offices.
