Accommodated Testing: It is important to remember that the purpose of an examination is to test the student's mastery of the subject matter and content of a course, not his/her ability to use a specific type of answer sheet. Unless speed or physical ability is an essential element of the course, such as in a keyboarding class, the most important part of taking a test should be mastery of subject matter. Test accommodations are designed to allow the student to demonstrate his/her knowledge of course content, regardless of his/her ability to physically write an essay or mark a scantron form. If the student has arranged to take his/her test in the DSPS office, please provide DSPS with the test at least 3 days in advance. This will allow DSPS staff time to reproduce the test in an alternate format if this is required. (Please refer to page 10 for more detailed information concerning accommodated testing). |
