Technology Assessments

In a technology assessment, we evaluate your learning stregnths and determine if there is a technology that will help you be a better learner. College learning reuires high levels of literacy (communication, reading, and writing), the ability to use a computer, the ability to navigate and use the Internet, and the ability to access and use all types of information.

Classes that include technology assessments are:

  • SP 82 - Adaptive/Assistive Technology Evaluation
  • SP85 - Introduction to Keyboarding and Assistive Technology

A typical sequence of classes for a student beginning to use an assistive technology is to take SP82 and SP85 at the same time. Other classes are usually necessary afterwards. It is usual for a student to take one year to learn an assistant technology well.
