Interested in transferring from Delta College to a 4-year college?
You should know:

  • Approximately 60 % of students attending a California State University are transfer students.
  • Approximately 20 % of students attending the University of California are transfer students.
  • Students who were not eligible for a UC or CSU campus upon graduation can become eligible and be admitted to a UC or CSU campus through the community college. .
  • A student who successfully completes a transfer program at a community college will have proved the ability to succeed at the college level and will not be required to take the SAT or ACT.
  • By attending Delta College, you can be guaranteed admission to a UC or CSU campus as a Junior.
  • Students who transfer from a Community College and complete their Bachelor’s Degree are admitted to Graduate Schools at the same rate as students who enrolled in a 4-year school as freshman.
  • Lower division preparation at a community college is comparable to lower division preparation at a UC or CSU campus.
  • Lower division class size is often smaller at a community college, especially in the universally required science, math and composition courses.
  • Community College Transfer Students who attain the Bachelor’s degree are employed at the same rate as students who enrolled in a 4-year college as freshmen.
  • Earnings of Community College Transfers and native 4-year students with a Bachelor’s Degree are comparable.
  • Students who attend a community college will save a significant amount of money on tuition and housing over a student who enrolls as a freshman at a 4 – year college.
  • The majority of Delta College students who transfer attend CSU-Stanislaus, CSU-Sacramento, UC Davis, and UOP. While the above are the primary colleges and Universities that Delta students transfer to, Delta students are in attendance at every UC and CSU campus. Delta students are also in attendance at many private colleges and universities both in and outside of California.
  • Students will be able to transfer from Delta College with a Transfer Associate of Arts Degree if they plan accordingly.

Associate Degrees and Certificate Programs

Students who are not interested in transferring, or who wish to enter the workforce with salable job skills, will benefit from pursuing a Associate Degree or Certificate Program. Students who decide to follow this path will find that Delta College has over 100 certificates that will lead to employment in anywhere from 1 semester to 2 years. The college offers 20 Associate of Science, (AS), Degrees and many more Associate of Arts (AA), Degrees that lead the student into various career paths. Some certificate programs and Associate Degrees will allow the student to move into a field that pays from $40,000 to $60,000 per year after two to two and one half years of study. Skill Enhancement and Personal Enrichment

Many students who are already employed in the workforce come to Delta College to upgrade job skills. Often taking a few courses in specific skill areas can lead to job advancement and promotion. Many Students are here at Delta College to pursue coursework related to personal interests.
